$11k of that is to subsidize healthcare for feral cats in rural Sweden.

Seems pretty reckless to not even include the lower and upper bridges since that takes the bulk of the load transfer...not to mention it would be easy to do damage to the forks if built or installed wrong.

For that much I could buy, what, both an antique Scott and a Craigslist Harley-Davidson...

The number of people in the USA that could benefit from $14k forks over $3k cartridges is limited enough. The number of people qualified to actually install and work on them is significantly smaller still.
If you need these, you already have them, and you didn’t pay for them.....

triples have all sorts of different offsets, rake angles, lengths, hiegihts and locking mechanisms built in that you cant really plan for it.
not to mention, when you are drop the price of an actually 1/2 decent NEW bike on FORKS, then you clearly know what you are in for to begin with.

ding ding ding, right answer here.
still boggle my mind that forks can be that expensive. I want to ride a set and compare them to an ‘entry’ lever olhins fork just for the sake of having the experiance.

There’s a very noticeable difference between off-the-showroom floor setups, and getting your stuff properly sprung & valved to your weight by somebody that knows what they’re doing. My bike ran about $1200 for this, and most of it was labor.
You don’t really need much more than that to go fast. A full Ohlins setup with cartridges & shock, installed, will run in the $4k - $5k range. You get to a point of diminishing returns with spending. A competent rider may notice the difference, but it really isn’t necessary.
Most people will be better served just getting springs & valves done, and spending whatever remaining thousands of dollars they have on good training, such as YCRS, or even 1-on-1 instruction.

oh yea. every one of my bikes that I’ve kept (with the exception of my first one) I went and had it set up for me. not the crazy full valving and springs, but preload and rebounds minimum.
I think I need to change the fork oil on the Z. had it done but still feels a little stiff. might go the full distance on this one.
